Pride Day 15

Allyship is a lifelong endeavor towards battling oppression, and it is a growing process that takes a lifetime to cultivate. As an ally, it is our responsibility to take part in the uncomfortable work. It is part of shaping a more comfortable place in equality. Allyship isn’t all just rainbows and pride flags.  At Work In Progress, we have created a space where everyone can come together and embrace art in ALL forms.  This allows us to provide that space where our members and communities can be comfortable and safe.

Another queer artist to pique your creative fancy this month is Keith Haring (1958-1990).

Keith Haring was an American artist known for his graffiti-inspired works and vibrant public art. Haring’s open sexuality and his activism during the AIDS crisis were integral to his art. His bold, colorful murals and drawings often conveyed messages about life, unity, and social issues. Haring’s legacy includes the Keith Haring Foundation, which supports organizations focused on education, prevention, and care related to AIDS.  For more information visit https://www.haring.com/
