Today, Work in Progress celebrates America’s second independence day: Juneteenth! Our newest federal holiday commemorates June 19, 1865, when 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas (the western-most confederate state) and announced that enslaved black people had been freed by the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. At Work in Progress we welcome everyone from all walks of life into our community of makers.
